Concrete sealing treats a concrete surface so water, de-icing salt, and UV can't break it down. A penetrating concrete sealer (many people call it a cement sealer) soaks into the slab and blocks moisture from the inside, instead of leaving a film on top that can peel. Done right, it protects the concrete for years without changing how it looks or feels.

We use Pavix CCC-100, a water-based, dual-crystalline penetrating sealer, and we name the exact product on every quote. It penetrates up to half an inch into the concrete and seals surface micro-cracks up to 1/16 inch, so it protects from within with no film to peel or yellow. It's the same class of sealer used on bridge decks and airport runways. If a contractor won't name the exact product going on your concrete, treat that as a red flag.

Sealing fills and seals surface micro-cracks up to about 1/16 inch and stops water from getting in and making them worse. It is not structural crack repair. If a slab is heavily cracked, spalling, or moving from ground settlement or tree roots, that needs a repair contractor first, and we'll tell you straight during the assessment.

Yes, and in the Okanagan that matters as much as the freeze itself. De-icing salt drives chloride into unsealed concrete, which corrodes the rebar and speeds up scaling and spalling. Pavix blocks salt and water at the pore level and resists de-icing-salt corrosion, alkali-silica reaction (ASR), and rebar corrosion. Chem-Crete also rates it at up to 90% lower ice adhesion, so ice clears more easily.
